At Community of Saint Paul in Grand Island, NY, the doors are open to anyone seeking the truth and the fullness thereof. We are a parish community within the Body of Christ striving to “seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness” (Mt. 6:33)
Community of Saint Paul is indeed a Pan-Orthodox community that worships the Master Jesus Christ of the universe in the English language.
Our parish is a true “melting-pot” of Orthodox Christians from a wide-spectrum of backgrounds: American, Lebanese, Syrian, Jordanian, Palestinian, Greek, Romanian, Ukrainian, Serbian, etc. all who “earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints” (Jude 1:3).
community of Saint Paul is committed to seeking first the Kingdom of God. In every action and decision, we strive to be transformed by the renewing of our mind in accordance with the Gospel. Rather than conforming to this world, we follow the faith of those that have come before us.
We take seriously the words of our Savior, “Allow little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven” (Mt. 19:14). Christian children should be raised and involved in the Church. Children are part of the congregation, not separate, and therefore encouraged to attend the holy services to see, sing, touch, smell, taste, and learn through experience – not only through information in a classroom. We offer Christian Education in Sunday School after the Divine Liturgy each Sunday. The Gospel of our Lord God and Savior Jesus Christ, being the foundation of the Christian life, is not only to be studied and meditated upon but put into action. Orthodox Christians live each day striving to become a beacon of hope within the community, a refuge for all people, a light in this world. We seek to fulfill the Lord’s command to become the salt of the earth.
The Church is a spiritual hospital and our Lord Jesus Christ is the Great Physician who offers us healing, hope, and refuge – true life. On a daily basis we respond to Christ's call to repent and be transformed, healed of our brokenness, by His grace.
Seeking to cultivate a true spiritual life of prayer, fasting, and almsgiving, our priority is to become sanctified through the grace of God. Choosing not to unite with the corruption of this world, we strive to become partakers of the divine nature (2 Peter 1:3-4).
In a world of ever increasing confusion and blurred boundaries, we at St. Paul seek to be grounded, as the (Orthodox Christian) Church has been since Pentecost over 2,000 years, in the Gospel of Jesus Christ, our Savior - Who is the TRUTH. You are welcome here – Come and see.
